For those of you who are new to the Club, this is something that we’ve done for a number of years in support of players and friends who have either fought and beaten cancer but also in memory of those who have lost their battle against this horrendous disease. Despite the serious nature of trying to raise as much money as possible for cancer charities including MacMillan and St Oswald’s Hospice, this is an opportunity to have some fun doing something we all enjoy.
Newcastle will be hosting the tournament this year, so we’re hoping there will be plenty of people who either want to play or support on the day. For those over 18, there will be evening shenanigans to take part in as well.
We are always looking for volunteers to get involved in the day from players, raffle ticket sellers, timers, scorers, team captains, umpires, someone to organise the evening get together etc., so despite this being for female players only (the other teams weren’t keen on a mixed tournament – sorry guys!), our male members can also join in helping out through the day and also more than welcome to join in the evening celebrations.
If you are interested, please get in touch with either Sue Thompson or Suze Brown (contact details at the end of this message, or you can message via Pitchero). We also need raffle prizes so if you have any unwanted Christmas pressies that are cluttering up your cupboards, let us know and we’ll take them off your hands. We will also be setting up a JustGiving site for those who cannot get involved in the day, but who would like to support the Charities that this day is all about.
Any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
