Turns out the pitch wasn’t the only thing damaged, our defence turned up with snapped hamstrings, broken backs, and an ill codeine induced Kurran. We could have done with Will Stonebanks- the Best Man to have. At least the 3’s had bolstered wing backs, midfield, and attackers with two Matt’s, Finn, Oscar, Aaron, Joel, Tom, Luke, Charlie, and Steve. It was Mike & Anna’s special day after all, so we had something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed… a well-oiled Ollie was back from Scotland. Don’t forget I lent you my spare socks for the next match and whoever it was don’t pick him up from the Lonsdale again.
Game time! The two teams married up level to start the game, with David making some great saves to keep us in it, and so we found ourselves going into the half nils a piece. It didn’t take long after for the pint to wear off in the 2nd half and Ollie made a nice incision in the medics back line to make it: 1-0. The forwards continued to probe the medics and I played a ball that was subsequently jumped on by Steven who injected his way into the D and laid it off to Joel for his first of the day: 2-0. Aaron bagged himself an assist for the final goal as Joel secured his brace making it: 3-0. Two minutes were left in the game and the Medics got one back with a scrappy build up to finish the game. Final score: 3-1 win Newcastle.
A brilliant display overall from the goalkeeper, defenders, midfield, and attackers. Next up Morpeth, to chase a Championship!
